My name is Michael Wydysh, the owner and face behind Sierra Insects.

I’ve spent over 20 years working in the field of entomology, developing a deep appreciation for the beauty, diversity, and ecological importance of insects—especially butterflies. My background includes years as a National Park Ranger, where I had the opportunity to connect people with the natural world and share the stories behind the landscapes and species that make our ecosystems unique.

Sierra Insects grew out of that same passion for education and appreciation. Every specimen I prepare is handled with care and respect, with an emphasis on preserving both its natural beauty and its scientific integrity. My goal is not just to create visually striking displays, but to spark curiosity and inspire a deeper understanding of the natural world.
