The Luna Moth (Actias luna) is a stunning and iconic moth with soft pale green wings, long sweeping tails, and delicate eye spots on each wing. Its ethereal coloration and elegant shape make it one of the most recognizable moths in North America.
Native to North America, Actias luna is found across the eastern United States and into parts of Canada. It is commonly associated with deciduous forests where its host trees grow.
Interesting Fact:
Adult Luna Moths do not have functional mouthparts and do not feed—living only about a week, their sole purpose is to reproduce.
